This photo of Dream Lake, taken on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend 2017, was selected as the first place winner at the August 2017 Mile High Wildlife Photo Club contest for the Members Scenic category.

This photo of Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park almost did not happen.  We arrived to the lake at first light and the snow was falling, which prevented a view of Hallett's Peak in the background.  After about an hour, we decided to start walking out, satisfied with the photos we had taken during the storm.  About ten minutes later, we noticed a sliver of blue sky and decided to return to Dream Lake.  This turned out to be a great decision, as we were provided with about five minutes of decent light, which allowed this photo to be taken.  Five minutes later, the clouds filled in and Hallett's Peak went back out of sight.
